On the Trek

For the duration of the trek, Porter rode in the hand cart. I wasn't sure if he would want to stay in , but he loved it!

Grandma Perry also gave him a chance to push the handcart. Look how strong Porter is!

A picture from the end of the handcart procession.

The pregnant ladies. My Aunt Susan is due 5 days before me and we both made it!

My cousin Caroline- isn't she cute?

Preparing for the Trek

I need to be sure I have everything before we leave. I've got plenty of water- check.

I'm coated in mud to stay cool on the trail- check.

I've got my Grandma with me- check.

And most important, I've got my momma- check.

I'm ready to go!

Pioneer Trek

For my mom's family reunion, we went on a pioneer trek to Martin's Cove. I have been on a trek with the youth in a stake I was in in Utah, but this was different because it was actual families with pregnant ladies (I wasn't the only one), babies, and the very mature. It was a neat experience. My dad's family is also doing a trek during labor day weekend that I am sad I won't be able to attend.

Porter with Uncle Ben and a group of my cousins- Aren't they all cute as pioneers?!

Yummm!

I found out that Porter loves Grandpa's smoothies he makes. He drank his and then half of mine! Too bad we have to go all the way to Utah to enjoy Grandpa's smoothies!

Lagoon

When we visit Utah in the Summer time, we usually try to go to Lagoon. This was Porter's first time, though. We started at Lagoon-A-Beach, which is a water park. I didn't take any pictures because I didn't want my camera ruined with water. Porter loved the little water slides.

After Lagoon-A-Beach, we started riding the other rides. Since I was 6 months pregnant, I had to resist all of the rides I like to normally ride, and instead found the rides that Porter wanted to ride. We even found a little roller coaster that he was big enough for. He was brave and even wanted to ride it again! His very favorite was the little car that goes around a track. He thought it was the neatest thing to "drive" a car all by himself! I have to admit, I was a little sad, because I looked at Porter in the car and I realized that he is growing up and won't be my baby much longer!

Porter also loved the Carousel. We rode it several times during the day. We were all riding it at about 11pm, after a very, very busy day. The ride ended and I asked him if he wanted to go home to bed. Porter gave me a very strong and adamant "NO!" The lady that was helping with the ride came around just in time to hear Porter say that, and she whispered to us that we could stay on and ride one more time! Silly Porter!

We rode a train around Lagoon and we got to see some wildlife animals. Porter and Grandpa Perry were very fascinated by what they saw!

Trip to Utah

After we got home from the Running Y Ranch, Porter and I turned right around and flew to Utah to visit my family. We were sad that Brandon couldn't come with us, but he had to stay and work.

For the 24th of July, we went to a parade in Ogden. Porter was more interested in this parade than he was at the last parade we went to.

Porter and Grandma Perry

That night we went to the rodeo. It was soooo hot, but so much fun! Grandpa Perry scored points when he shared his binoculars with Porter!

Running Y Ranch

While we were at the ranch, we let Porter play, play, play.

Where's Porter?

They had a kiddie pool that Porter just loved. I think we were at the pool most of the time we were there. Porter learned how to dunk his head all by himself. He thought that was the neastest thing and would do that over and over. It's a start for swimming!

Porter and Daddy had so much fun playing together, but once they got a little too rambunctious on the bed, and Porter hit his head on the head board. It was an instant goose egg!

Vacations are tiring!

Crater Lake

For our family vacation, we went to Klamath Falls to a ranch there. We were so close to Crater Lake that we had to go. It was really neat to learn more about the deepest lake in North America. The only bummer thing was that the air was not clear because of the California fires.

4th of July

Our camp set up- about as baby-proof as a camp site can be!

Garrett is a dirt magnet. He loved carrying the shovel around and playing in the dirt. By the time we were ready to leave, he wasn't even recognizeable!

Surprisingly Porter was the opposite. He didn't like getting dirty! He fell once in the dirt and noticed the dirt on his hands and gets a disgusting look on his face and says "Ewwwww!"

The whole clan- dirty and smelly. Isn't camping fun?!

I just thought this was an adorable picture of Porter.

4th of July

For the 4th of July we went camping at Timothy Lake with a bunch of our friends. It is a lake on Mt. Hood. It was a lot of fun. It was weird not to hear or see any fireworks at all, but it was good to get away from the city life for awhile!
