Whose child are you???

I thought this was the funniest thing. I gave Porter a popcicle to eat and he would not hold it by the stick! He had to hold it by the popcicle part! I tried and tried to get him to hold the stick so that he could eat the popcicle easier, but to no avail. What a nut! I guess that's why I love him so much!

Lazy Summer (almost) Day

The weather is crazy here in Portland. We go from temperatures way below normal most of the spring to temperatures way above normal. I'm not complaining about having some hot weather, because it is long overdue. Porter loved cooling off in his little pool.

Go Porter!

I guess I am just being a proud mom, but I was so impressed that Porter could stack the blocks like this. We have had these blocks since Porter was a couple months old and I would try to get him to play with them, but he never seemed interested. And then one day, I was shocked to see that he picked them out of his toy box and started making towers! I realize this probably isn't that interesting, but I was proud of Porter!

Cinco De Mayo

We have never really celebrated Cinco de Mayo before, but this year for family night we decided to head downtown to the waterfront and see what the city of Portland had to offer for Cinco de Mayo. It was mostly food vendors- which wasn't a bad thing, and they had little shops and rides. We mostly liked eating the food and just looking around at the little shops. Porter was content staying in his stroller (which usually doesn't happen). He liked watching all of the people, too. He's just kicked back and relaxed in his stroller!

What I do in a day...

What I do in a day...

Lately, Porter has been very interested in "fixing" things. He notices daddy using his tools, and wants to do the same. Here, Porter is fixing the fence with a pen (see previous post). He was so focused on this task and it kept his attention for an amazing amount of time. I guess sometimes he does stop running around!

What I do in a day...

Basically anything Brandon or I do in a day, Porter likes to do in a day. He loves wearing my shoes, and he is learning how to get around in them. He has been obsessed with pens for a long time. If he sees anyone with a pen, he has to have it. He is also obsessed with cell phones (and has been for a long time!) Forget the toy cell phones, though. But what really gets us is we will give him an old real cell phone, and he doesn't want that one. We can't trick him! He's too smart! It has to be a working cell phone, which can cause problems, because he will call people!

What I do in a day...

Porter keeps busy during the day by finding many ways to occupy his time. Being a superhero is one of those ways. Although, I know that he wishes he could really fly!

Like father, like son...

We have been having really crummy weather here in Oregon, but we got lucky with a couple very nice days last weekend. We took advantage of this nice weather. I think Porter only came inside the entire weekend to eat and sleep! Dad and Uncle Tim were playing football on one of these nice days and Porter thought it would be fun to join in (he loves balls). He would stand right in front of Brandon and wait patiently until Brandon would give him the ball (he can't catch it yet) and then he would throw it back to Brandon. One of the times Porter had the football, he tripped over it and got high-centered on the ball! It was the funniest thing I saw all week! Then Brandon decided to teach Porter how to hike the ball. We will have to get a smaller football for Porter if he wants to learn how to hike!

Easter 2008

Porter really got the hang of Easter Egg Hunts. We took him to a community Easter egg hunt on Saturday. We had one at our house on Sunday, and then Grandma and Grandpa Hoopes had one at their house! He loved to pick up an egg and open it up, but he didn't ever want to put his eggs in the basket. He was content with whatever he had in his hands!

Exciting News!

It is true. Porter is going to be a big brother and we are adding on to our family! The blessed event will take place around the beginning of November. I told Porter he has a lot of growing up to do from now until then!

Let them eat cake!

Porter did not know what to think of us putting a whole cake in front of him. We actually had to urge him to eat it! Brandon wanted to stick Porter's whole face in it! I wouldn't let him! Porter finally thought it was a yummy thing to eat!

Porter's 1st Birthday!!!

We had a blast at Porter's Birthday party. It was fun to have friends and family join in the celebration. I don't know how excited Porter was about opening his presents. He just enjoyed all of the attention he got!

ABC's

We're going to make sure that Porter learns his ABC's anyway he can!

Christmas Morning

Christmas is a lot more fun when you have kids that get so excited. Porter didn't know what to think at first, but he saw some of the toys Santa had brought him, and he liked playing with them. When it was time to unwrap presents, I think he had more fun playing with the wrapping paper and the boxes, than the actual gifts! Porter got his first taste of a chocolate bar. I think he thought it was good!

Porter didn't know what to think of all of the snow! This was his first time to see the white stuff.

Christmas Vacation

This year was our year to have Christmas in Utah with my side of the family. That meant driving for about 12 hours! We were worried how Porter would do in the car, but he was a gem! He made the travel easy on us. We are so lucky to have him!
